Design and manufacture of automatic baby crib system

Abstract –

Cradle is a device that is used to carry a baby and automatically oscillates with a certain speed for a baby's comfortable sleep. Babies sleep soundly in moss baskets or cribs as they provide a limited sleeping atmosphere that helps them feel safe. B-Care is an innovative concept that allows the movements of a stroller, to lift the crib, to move the machine from one place to another, automatic movement of the crib when the baby is disturbed and much more.

Baby Care equipment includes DC motor, link, oscillating bed and sensors. The electric motor will drive the links per shaft. Links drive the rod attached to the bed at constant speed. The car is attached to the metal rod using springs that provide a vibrating movement. It will also ensure the movement of the crib even when the baby cries or moves using sensors. The motor, connection and sensors are fixed to the side of the cradle structure. Lightweight and high-strength material is used for manufacturing baby products.

Baby care is the most economical, easy to use and automated mechanism for baby care in the modern nuclear family.

INTRODUCTION

In today's world, everyone is busy with their own lives. Nowadays, even mothers are working and there is a requirement for unsupervised cribs. The proposed E-Cradle is an innovative solution to this problem. In the proposed design, there will be a circuit placed along the crib that will sense the sound intensity of the child's crying and take necessary actions based on the sound intensity of the child's crying.

The system was created to assist parents and nurses in caring for babies.

The project aims at the following points:

  • The crib starts to rock automatically when the baby cries.
  • If the baby stops crying before 2 minutes, the crib will automatically stop after 3 minutes of rocking.
  • An alarm sounds if the baby cries for more than the stipulated time of 2 minutes, indicating that he needs attention.
  • It sounds an alarm when the mattress gets wet.
  • Before the use of cribs in society, baby care was completely done by the caregiver, but in the nuclear family, baby care is very difficult. So there is a need for automation in the berth section. As the baby needs more care and security, crib automation is very difficult for safe design.

    Cost is very important to develop a crib with an automated mechanism. The family faces the problem of carrying the baby to places as the crib must be mobile. Therefore, the living standard of a renowned family needs the automated crib. Several small industries use components made of plastic, rubber, etc., assembled mechanically to make a simple cradle, but when we use automation we need material
    with strength and for simple use, materials must be light. To consider baby's safety, the sharp edges are covered with rubber. The performance and efficiency of the cradle is high as it needs less electricity and the probability of failure is completely removed.

    As safety is necessary for the baby, care must be taken during the production and assembly of its components. Many tools and equipment used in home and small-scale industries are designed to assist personnel working in production facilities. Special instruction books are provided to help the caregiver with ease. Our project aims to design and manufacture an Electromechanical Cradle for use in a middle-income nuclear family. The principle used here is that the cam will rotate according to the mechanical power given to it, in our project the car is being oscillated with the help of a U-shaped structure that is coupled to a cam that is mechanically driven by a motor ( low speed high torque motor). Furthermore, this device will likely be used in public places where the family goes.

    An electric motor is a machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Its action is based on the principle that when a current conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a magnetic force whose direction is given by Fleming's left-hand rule. When an engine is running, it develops torque. This torque can produce mechanical rotation. DC motors are also like generators classified into shunt winding or series winding or compound winding motors.
