W11F Three Roll Bending Machine: Expert Guide

1. The function and application of plate rolling machine

In this article, our focus is on the three-roll asymmetric rolling mill.

This machine is mainly used in the cold working process to bend sheets into cylindrical tubes of varying diameters.

The sheet metal roll bending machine is widely used in various industries, including the boiler, chemical, mining, construction, shipbuilding and machinery industries.

3. Main structure and working principle of plate roll bending machine

3-1. This is a symmetrical roll bending machine.

Cylinder rolling is carried out through the upper roll pressing the lower roll, with both rolls participating in the rolling process. This is represented in Drawing 3-1.

3-2. The machine consists of two parts: the operating section and the transmission section, which are welded into a single lower pallet.

The operating section includes the left and right bearing housing, an upper roller, two lower rollers, lifting mechanisms and additional accessories. The lower roller is the primary roller, while the height of the upper roller can be adjusted. The transmission section consists of the main motor, speed reducer motor and other accessories.

3-3. The lower roller is driven by the main motor through the main reduction box. The output shaft of the main gearbox transmits to the two lower rollers through a set of gears. The rotation direction of the roller is controlled by the main motor.

3-4. The lifting movement of the upper roller is achieved by the auxiliary motor through the auxiliary gearbox, which drives the worm and worm wheel located under the left and right bearing. This movement is automatically controlled and completed by the rotation of the steel wire nut, which is fixed on the worm wheel, and the up and down movement of the ball bearing screws, as shown in Drawing 3-4.

3-5. The discharge device is used once the cylindrical rolling has been completed.

The upper roller is raised to standard height and is stopped in place using a balance rod located at the bottom of the upper roller. The pin shaft in the tilting bearing seat is then removed, causing the tilting bearing seat to tip over, allowing the rolled product to be removed from one end of the upper roller.

3-6. The main components of the rolling mill include three 45 steel forged rollers with a hardness of 35-45 HRC, a welded support frame, a lower pallet which is also a welded part, ball bearing screws and helical gears which are forged steel components 45 .

4. Lubrication of sheet metal roll bending machine

Lubricating oil is necessary in all areas where friction occurs to ensure normal operation and increase the useful life of the machinery.

The lubricating oil used in the speed reduction box is normally HJ-40 mechanical oil. It is important to regularly add lubricating grease to the sprocket and refill the oil refill cup, as shown in Figure 4-1.

The upper roller tipping bushings need to be refilled with oil every shift.

The oil in the upper roller guidance seat should be refilled once per shift.

The worm bearing requires oil refilling every 1,500 hours, depending on usage conditions.

The JZQ gearbox must have its oil changed after the first three months of use and then every six months (using 2kg of gear oil).

The oil in the worm wheel should be refilled as needed, typically every 1,500 hours.

The transmission sprocket should have its oil refilled as needed, typically every 100 hours.

The ZSY224 gearbox must have its oil changed after the first three months of use and then every six months (using 20kg of gear oil).

The oil in the lifting ball bearing screw should be refilled as needed, typically every 800 hours.

The roller holes under the support must be refilled with oil every shift.

Connect the motor and control wires and make sure ground is securely connected. Next, check whether the insulation resistance is within safe limits. The machine cannot be operated without load until it is confirmed to be in good condition.

Note: (Make sure the motor wiring is connected correctly and the forward and reverse rotation of the motor is correct. Also confirm that the movement of the lower and upper rollers is correct.)

6. Roll bending machine installation and debugging

The ground plane and slope level in any direction should not exceed 2 mm/m.

Before installation, inspect the machine to ensure it is in good working condition and prepare it carefully.

Use the surface of the lower roller as a reference, check the horizontal gradient and parallel alignment between the upper and lower roller, and adjust as necessary to meet the requirements.

After successful installation and inspection, tighten all screws.

Make sure the equipment can move freely after installation.

Before starting operation, inspect the stability of all joints, check and adjust the clearance of all operating parts and joints.

Check that all switches are in good working order.

After running a test for approximately 10 minutes, stop and inspect all components to ensure they are functioning properly before beginning operation.

7. Safety Operation and Maintenance Rules

The equipment is designed for easy and convenient operation, ensuring safety and reliability. To obtain different rotation directions and up and down, press the “Spin” button (the lower roller rotates), the “Reverse” button (the lower roller reverses), the “Up” button (the upper roller goes up) or the “Down” (top roller falls). The operator must adhere to the following principles:

  • Operation is not permitted when the electrical system malfunctions.
  • Operation is prohibited if the operator does not understand or strictly follow the rules.
  • The work area must have good lighting.
  • Overturning must only be carried out with the machine stopped and the pressure mechanism must work.
  • The two ends cannot be connected to prevent the machine from being destroyed. During bending, the two ends must not be connected to avoid damage to the machine.
  • To ensure that the machine runs smoothly, worn accessories must be replaced in a timely manner. A reasonable maintenance system must be established and the workplace and equipment must be kept clean.

8. Lifting and installing the plate rolling machine

When the machine is not used for a long time, lower the upper roller to touch the lower roller, turn off the power, and clean the machine. Take protective measures against moisture, rust and dust to prevent damage.

8-6. Before using the machine, open the machine cover and inject reducing oil.
