23 Key Operating Procedures for Press Brake Success

Press brake operating procedures
  1. When entering the premises, it is mandatory to wear appropriate work attire and fasten your wrists. Gambling is strictly prohibited and the place must be kept clean and tidy.
  2. The operation can only be carried out after fully mastering the correct procedures for using the relevant equipment and tools.
  3. Before starting, perform a thorough inspection to ensure that the motor, switch, wiring and grounding are normal and safe. Additionally, check that the equipment's operating parts and buttons are in the correct position.
  4. Regular lubrication must be carried out on the parts of the bending machine that require it.
  5. Before carrying out any bending, let the equipment idle and check for any abnormalities.
  6. It is prohibited to turn on the equipment during installation of the bending die.
  7. The bending die must be selected correctly, and the bottom size of the die must be determined based on the thickness of the plate. Typically, the die size is 8-10 times the board thickness, and for 2mm thin boards, it can be 6-8 times.
  8. The upper and lower molds must be installed and operated correctly to avoid injuries, with the mold clamping position safe.
  9. During bending, it is not allowed to place debris or measuring tools between the upper and lower molds.
  10. In case of multiple operators, the main operator must be confirmed and must control the use of the pedal. The pedal must not be used by any other person.
  11. Sheet material must be properly supported during bending to prevent warping and possible injury.
  12. No one can stand behind the machine tool while it is in operation.
  13. If any error is detected during operation, the machine must be stopped for correction. It is strictly prohibited to make manual corrections during operation to avoid hand injuries.
  14. It is strictly prohibited to bend thick iron plates, tempered steel plates, high-quality alloy steel, square steel or metal sheets that exceed the capabilities of the sheet metal bending machine to avoid damage to the machine tool.
  15. Regularly check the alignment of the upper and lower molds and verify that the pressure gauge readings meet the requirements.
  16. The bending pressure must be selected correctly and must not exceed half the maximum pressure under eccentric loading.
  17. The machine must not be operated at full load if the length of the folded plate is less than 1000 mm.
  18. No part of the human body can enter the space between the upper and lower molds during operation or shutdown to avoid accidental injury.
  19. When replacing the lower die, the ram must be stopped at bottom dead center to avoid injury.
  20. If the press brake has any abnormalities, the power supply must be cut off immediately, the operation must be stopped, and relevant personnel must be notified to immediately solve the problem.
  21. The ram must be stopped at bottom dead center before turning off the machine.
  22. Upon completion, turn off the power supply and clean the work area.
