Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced that it has updated the Vishay BCcomponents 193 PUR-SI Solar series of snap-in power aluminum capacitors with a higher voltage rating of 570 V and a rating voltage of 475 V.
Aimed at solar applications, the devices offer operation of up to 600 V in specific conditions, long service life and high ripple current of up to 2.46 A at + 105° C and 100 Hz.
At 570 V, the enhanced 193 PUR-SI Solar series devices feature a maximum operating temperature of +60°C and a durability of 5,000 hours (without ripple current applied). At 475 V, the maximum temperature can be extended up to +105° C and the service life is 6,000 hours.
With their ability to meet open circuit voltage condition up to 600 V, the components reduce the overall cost of solar PV inverters by reducing the number of electrolytic capacitors required, allowing designers to use one capacitor for string input voltages of 600 V and two for 1200 V.
Featuring a cylindrical aluminum case with pressure relief valve, insulated with a blue sleeve, the 193 PUR-SI Solar series capacitors are available in five case sizes ranging from 35 x 30 x 35 x 60 mm. As polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, RoHS compliant devices are ideal for DC link buffering and filtering applications.
In addition to solar photovoltaic inverters, typical end products will include industrial motor controls and power supplies.
