More than 22 million tons of cargo of various types have been exported through the Black Sea since the temporary corridor began. This was reported by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, according to the ministry's report. website .

Since August last year, more than 700 ships have used the Ukrainian maritime corridor.

According to Oleksandr Kubrakov, transshipment is carried out from three ports in Greater Odessa.

At the same time, since July 18, 2023 (the last day of the grain corridor), Russian attacks on Ukrainian seaports have damaged almost 200 port infrastructure facilities and injured more than 26 civilians. However, port workers are recovering very quickly, the minister noted, and are increasing transshipment volumes every day.

«More than 22 million tons in six months is not the limit. Modernizing the ports themselves and the accompanying infrastructure – the road and rail network – with an adequate security component will increase volumes by at least a quarter,” said Kubrakov.

As the GMK Center previously reported, in 2023, cargo transshipment in Ukrainian ports increased by 5% in annual terms – to 62 million tons; iron ore transshipment accounted for 5.9% of the total volume of cargo handled, 1.9 million tons. The most dynamic growth of transshipment was observed in the Danube ports (Izmail, Reni and Ust-Dunaisk). Last year, the total volume of cargo at these ports almost doubled to 32 million tonnes, and in 2022 it will triple to 16.5 million tonnes (from 5.5 million tonnes in 2021). In particular, last year, the transshipment volume in the port of Izmail amounted to 20.2 million tons (an increase of 2.3 times by 2022), and in Reni – 10.1 million tons (+47% y/y /The).
