New York Engineers is proud to provide our services to the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee (HANAC) to help in their mission of providing affordable housing to those in need.
HANAC is a New York City-based social services organization dedicated to bringing affordable housing, job and career training, counseling and educational opportunities to underserved communities in New York's 4 boroughs.
For this project, New York Engineers helped with the development of their latest building in Corona Queens . This building consists of a child development center, as well as 68 rental units designed to house low-income seniors.
To complete the project, New York engineers provided electrical design and design review consultations, and ensured that the building's MEP systems were designed to maximize efficiency while minimizing overall costs.
New York engineers also utilized passive house standards to ensure overall building efficiency and accessibility for residents. Passive house construction is intended to help achieve maximum comfort for occupants while minimizing the need for an HVAC heating system. To achieve Passive House Certification, our team equipped the building with a passive solar design, super insulation, advanced air-tight windows, efficient heating and cooling systems, and other efficiencies in order to maximize energy efficiency over the life of the building. and keep long-term costs low for homeowners and residents.
The building is scheduled to begin construction soon and is expected to open for resident use in about a year and a half.
