Arctic Semiconductor launches flexible transceiver for efficient systems design

Arctic Semiconductor has unveiled SilverWings. Representing an industry breakthrough, SilverWings is the first low-power 4x4 transceiver that offers digital-to-RF and RF-to-digital multi-stage up- and down-conversion, enabling programmable and adaptable system designs. Leveraging Arctic's renowned low-power architecture, SilverWings seamlessly integrates high-performance analog capabilities with high-bandwidth digital capabilities, incorporating unique Digital-IF and High-IF conversion methodologies to enhance performance and minimize costs.
SilverWings stands out as a versatile all-in-one RF transceiver ideal for a wide range of applications including wireless radios, satellite communications, repeaters, fixed-wireless access devices, user equipment, medical devices and instrumentation . SilverWings’ key differentiators include: All-in-one capability: SilverWings encompasses a comprehensive set of essential functionalities for full up- and down-conversion. At the receiver end, it features an RF gain stage, facilitating ultra-fast Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to combat interference. Meanwhile, digital pre-distortion (DPD) is incorporated on the transmission side to mitigate the nonlinearity of the external power amplifier. Ultra-Low Power Consumption: SilverWings delivers more than a 60% reduction in power consumption compared to equivalent offerings on the market, while integrating RF gain with gain control on the receive and transmit paths. Innovation: SilverWings transceiver integration reaches perfection at its peak. Its unique Digital-IF conversion methodology eliminates the need for intricate software calibration steps designed to compensate for IQ imbalance and LO leakage. This calibration-free architecture saves significant costs in the development and production stages. Versatility: SilverWings' multi-stage analog and digital upconversion and downconversion processes facilitate flexible, programmable system design tailored to the required operating frequency, bandwidth and specifications, ensuring optimal performance at minimum cost. SilverWings offers a comprehensive range of features, allowing customers to avoid the need to integrate additional components and facilitating a faster design process. Consequently, this reduces product development expenses and speeds time to market. The SilverWings MP is now available to order.
