During the war, the company implemented another large-scale investment project
Iron ore company Ferrexpo has put its filtration and concentrate storage unit into operation at Ferrexpo Poltava Mining's Crushing and Beneficiation Plant (CBP).
This was reported in the company's press service update.
The patio construction project began in 2017 and began operating in test mode at the end of 2021. The filtration building houses the technological equipment necessary to ensure the operation of three filter presses. The covered yard has capacity for up to 35 thousand tons of raw material and is intended for storing excess concentrate produced. The storage yard contains specialized equipment (conveyors, hoppers, dispensers) to enable the concentrate to be loaded onto railway wagons. The loading unit is also equipped with a state-of-the-art automatic sampler, which allows the product to be sent to customers after control verification of quality indicators.
In the context of complicated logistics caused by a large-scale invasion, this warehouse helps the company regulate planned production volumes and product supply to Ferrexpo's international customers, including the world's leading steel companies in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. East.
«Previously, when there was excess concentrate produced, we were forced to stop one of the CBP sections because we had nowhere to put the excess raw material. Now, the concentrate in pulp form is sent to the filtration station and then, in dry form, to the warehouse. It remains there until it is needed for lateral shipping or to support the operation of the next production chain – the Pellet Production Workshop”, explains Ihor Vedmid, head of the Poltava Mining Crushing and Processing Plant.
The project was implemented within the scope of Ferrexpo's strategic development program, whose main objective is to double the production of iron ore pellets to 24 million tons per year. This is preceded by the implementation of several projects to modernize existing equipment, construct additional buildings and purchase modern models of equipment.
As previously reported by Compraço, despite the ongoing war, Ferrexpo continues to invest in improving the quality of its products, which increases Ukraine's reputation in the main markets.
