Infineon launches Matter-certified OPTIGA Trust M MTR for enhanced smart device security

Infineon Technologies AG introduced OPTIGA ™ Trust M MTR, a new Matter-certified Secure Element to strengthen security and simplify interoperability in smart devices for homes and buildings. This latest addition to the OPTIGA Trust M series comes with a Matter provisioning service, addressing the challenges of integrating robust security features into IoT products.

As smart home devices proliferate – expected to reach 1.7 billion by 2030, according to ABI Research – Matter's uniform security and privacy measures ensure these devices can connect securely across multiple ecosystems . The OPTIGA Trust M MTR enhances this security by offering manufacturers flexibility with its easy integration into MCU-based designs and support for multiple product protocols.

The device features a Device Attestation Certificate (DAC) to verify authenticity within the Matter ecosystem, simplifying the manufacturing process by enabling custom DAC injection until production begins. Pre-provisioned in Infineon's certified facility, Secure Elements are claimed through the Kudelski IoT portal, making it easy to download production DACs.

Samples of the OPTIGA Trust M MTR are currently available, with broad market availability starting in March 2024. Infineon provides extensive support, including integrated application notes and training for security products, without the need for an NDA.
