Basic and related operations of drilling machines
Drilling machines are used not only to make the hole but also to make holes related to the operations that can be performed on the drilling machine. Some operations are explained here
DRILLING OPERATIONS
1) Drilling.
It is an operation of producing a circular hole in a part by forcing a drill against it.
2) Boring.
It is an operation to enlarge a hole already drilled with a single-point tool, in order to make it true to the desired size.
3) Enlargement.
It is an operation of slightly enlarging a machined hole to the proper size with a smooth finish. The reamer is a precise tool and is not designed to remove a lot of metal. The widening margin is generally only 0.2 mm.
4) Touch.
It is an operation to produce internal threads in a hole using a tool called a tap.
5) Against boring.
It is an operation of widening the mouth of a drilled hole to place the heads of screws and nuts below the surface so that they cannot protrude above the surface level.
6) Spot coating.
It is an operation to finish a small portion of rough surface around a drilled hole to provide smooth seating for the screw head. The spot facing tool is a single blade; ground to give two cutting edges and is guided by a rod that runs into a pilot hole.
7) Counter-sinking.
It is an operation to chamfer the top of a hole to make a tapered seat for a flat head screw. Ordinary flat grinding to correct the angle is used to countersink holes.

Operations related to drilling machines
All of the above operations are carried out on a collective drilling machine. Operations related to drilling are explained below.
