AIROC Wi-Fi/Bluetooth solutions now available with the NVIDIA Jetson edge AI platform

Artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge will impact various industry verticals including robotics, smart cities, healthcare, industrial, retail, energy, agriculture, etc. AI for these applications involves a combination of cloud and edge processing.

To that end, Infineon Technologies announced that it is bringing its AIROC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity solutions to the NVIDIA Jetson edge AI platform.

NVIDIA Jetson is one of the leading AI computing platforms at the edge, with over a million developers. With pre-trained AI models, developer SDKs, and support for cloud-native technologies across the Jetson lineup, intelligent machine manufacturers and AI developers can create and deploy high-quality software-defined capabilities across embedded and edge devices.

AI devices at the edge require reliable and instantaneous Wi-Fi cloud connectivity for lifecycle management functions such as deploying AI models through over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Infineon's combined AIROC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth portfolio offers high-performance Wi-Fi 6/6E solutions and low-power Wi-Fi 5 solutions that are integrated with the full range of NVIDIA Jetson system modules, bringing high-quality connectivity for developers, partners and customers. AI-enabled edge devices will benefit from robust connection, power savings, low latency, extended range and seamless data streaming with Infineon AIROC products.

“In congested network environments, AI devices often encounter disconnections or low data throughput, leading to poor user experience. Infineon’s AIROC Wi-Fi family offers low latency, robust connectivity and high-throughput data streaming, which delivers exceptional uninterrupted system-level performance,” said Sivaram Trikutam, Vice President, Wi-Fi Product Line, Infineon. . “We are happy to collaborate with NVIDIA so that our customers can leverage the power of the NVIDIA Jetson platform in combination with our AIROC Wi-Fi solutions.”

Many AI applications require real-time blending effects, from live action to computer-generated images or videos, such as games and AR/VR in industrial applications. The device must process and transmit data simultaneously. In these applications, high-throughput, low-latency wireless transmissions are critical. Infineon's Wi-Fi 6E solution, operating in the 6-7GHz band, minimizes latency and prevents interruptions due to congested wireless networks.

Combined with the fast processing power of the NVIDIA Jetson platform, AI-enabled devices are capable of delivering the best user experience.

“The NVIDIA Jetson platform provides customers with powerful, easy-to-use tools to develop and deploy AI devices at the edge for all types of applications,” said Durga Peddireddy, Jetson Ecosystem Partner Lead at NVIDIA. “With Infineon’s reliable, proven and innovative Wi-Fi solutions, customers using the NVIDIA Jetson platform can easily build high-performance, AI-enabled devices.”
