Samsung revela playground virtual ‘Space Tycoon’ no Roblox

Samsung reveals 'Space Tycoon' virtual playground on Roblox

Samsung Electronics announced the launch of Samsung Space Tycoon, a virtual playground built within the Roblox global metaverse platform. Space Tycoon is a virtual space where users can create and play games and share experiences using Samsung Electronics products alongside alien characters in space, taking design and functionality cues from the business simulation 'tycoon' genre.

Samsung created this service aimed at Gen Z customers to provide them with an integrated metaverse experience where they can create and enjoy their own Samsung products. Samsung's goal is to enable Gen Z customers to experience the brand and interact with each other.

“Space Tycoon is designed to be a playground where many customers can experience unlimited possibilities of virtual spaces,” said Jinsoo Kim, Executive Vice President of Corporate Design Center at Samsung Electronics. “We wanted to give our Gen Z customers the opportunity to experience Samsung products in a way they never have before. We will continue to feature content that can provide more meaningful and fun digital experiences for our current and future customers.”

Set on the Samsung Space Station, as well as the research laboratory where alien characters conduct research on Samsung's newest products, Space Tycoon consists of three specific gameplay areas: the Mining Zone for acquiring resources, the Shop for purchasing game items and the Laboratory for manufacturing the product.

In Space Tycoon, using the excavated resources, users can design various Samsung products – from Galaxy smartphones to various TVs and home appliances – and purchase or upgrade game items. Users can get creative by starting with real-life products and revamping them to become in-game gadgets. For example, the Galaxy Z Flip foldable smartphone can transform into a bag or a scooter, just as users will get more creative with the Jet Bot vacuum cleaner transforming into a hoverboard or The Sero lifestyle TV into a personal helicopter.

Currently, more than 20 Samsung products are available in the Store, where the colors of purchased items may change randomly depending on the levels reached, and new series of products will be updated regularly.

Space Tycoon will be released simultaneously in 14 languages, including Korean, English, Chinese and Spanish. Additional features where users can interact with each other, share their creations or attend exclusive virtual parties will be added in the future. Additionally, Samsung will hold dedicated online events via its website Samsung.com under the #YouMake campaign that focuses on coloring and collecting Samsung products.
