introduced a new portfolio of next-generation, 16- to 24-bit, ultra-high-precision successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that simplify the often complex process of designing ADCs in instrumentation applications , industrial and healthcare.
The new high-performance SAR ADC family features ADI's patented Easy Drive technology and versatile Flexi-SPI serial peripheral interface (SPI) that solves system design challenges and expands the selection of directly compatible complementary products.
ADI's Easy Drive technology maintains device performance while eliminating many traditional system-level design challenges, such as strict layout guidelines, strict digital interface timing requirements, and complicated selection of add-on products. The versatile Flexi-SPI digital interface facilitates host processor and ADC integration, providing easy-to-meet timing requirements.
Combining high performance with this reimagined digital interface delivers a better overall design experience while accelerating the system design cycle.
The first in the family of six pin-compatible SAR ADCs, the AD4630-24 dual-channel 24-bit, simultaneous sampling, two Megasamples (Msps) per second per channel features industry-leading accuracy rating (INL) of 0.9 parts per million (ppm), which represents a 4x improvement when compared to the others. The AD4630-24 integrates a reference buffer and all critical decoupling components on a single chip, providing a 2x improvement in solution density compared to others.
“The combination of performance and speed will lead to more accurate and stable digital control loops that can reach their final set point with lower latency,” said Ray Goggin, general manager of ADI’s Electronic Test and Measurement Group. “ADI’s new family of ADCs is an intentional technology evolution that further simplifies the process of designing, evaluating and bringing digitally controlled precision instrumentation products to market faster.”
Main Features:
- Higher Accuracy: Guaranteed 0.9 ppm INL accuracy rating with 0.1 ppm typical performance
- Highest performance: Typical 105.7 dB signal-to-noise ratio rating
- Small solution size: Chip-scale spherical grid array (CSP-BGA) package integrates all critical power supply and reference bypass capacitors to reduce system footprint and component count
- Wide common mode input range: Ensures compatibility with differential and single-ended input signal chains.
The dual-channel AD4630-24 and single-channel AD4030-24 are available now and four additional SAR ADCs will be released throughout this year.
