Keysight combines 5G and GNSS technology for advanced location services

Keysight Technologies, Inc., a technology company that provides advanced design and validation solutions to help accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced it is the first to achieve validation from the Global Certification Forum (GCF) of 5G location-based services (LBS). ) Assisted with the Galileo (A-Galileo) test case, combining new 5G radio (NR) technology and global navigation satellite system (GNSS).

This industry achievement will accelerate the implementation of LBS in smartphones, allowing mobile phone vendors to verify that designs comply with the latest 3GPP specifications that support precise location positioning across a wide range of industries including healthcare, transportation road and air, emergency and rescue services. , public safety and internal security.

Highly accurate positioning services also enable mobile operators to provide personalized services supporting entertainment, hospitality and retail applications.

“The GCF validation of the first 5G LBS test case demonstrates Keysight’s commitment to supporting the rapid development of technologies that improve the deployment of 5G NR, benefiting consumers, businesses and government organizations,” said Muthu Kumaran, General Manager, Keysight Technologies. “Keysight brings holistic testing capabilities to a connected ecosystem of chipset and device vendors that rely on device testing platforms with continuous, comprehensive test case support, meeting the evolving requirements of the GCF and other benchmark certification bodies .”

LBS leverages different technologies including global positioning system (GPS), GNSS, BeiDou, Galileo, beamforming, and round trip time (RTT) to geographically locate a user. LBS test cases allow users to check sensitivity, accuracy and dynamic range on mobile phones that utilize satellite constellations such as GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou to identify precise geographic location.

GCF Conformity Agreement Group (CAG) Meeting #72, held on October 21, confirmed the validation of the first 5G LBS A-Galileo test case, which was supported by Keysight's S8705A RF/RRM DVT and Conformance Toolset .

The toolset provides access to a wide range of radio frequency, radio resource management (RRM), and development validation testing (DVT) test cases used to verify 5G NR designs in non-standalone (NSA) deployment modes ) and autonomous (SA).

The S8705A toolkit used the E7515B UXM 5G wireless test platform, a compact signaling test platform with multi-format stack support, rich processing power and abundant RF resources to emulate various mobility scenarios in a 5G network as well as a recommended GNSS emulator to provide the LBS test case. At the CAG #72 meeting, it was also confirmed that

Keysight continues to support a large number of GCF-validated compliance test cases for RF, RRM, and 5G protocol testing.
