LED lighting is becoming more important in all automotive segments: it increases road safety and enables new design trends such as flexible styling.
To meet the resulting requirements, Infineon Technologies is expanding its LITIX Power family with the TLD6098-2ES dual-channel standalone DC-DC controller.
The controller is the first product that can drive an all-LED headlight on its own without an additional microcontroller. It can also operate the four standard LED front light functions: High Beam (HB), Low Beam (LB), Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Turn Signal (TURN).
Furthermore, LITIX Power products can be used as a voltage source to meet the growing demand for outdoor LED lighting animation.
As a multi-topology controller, the TLD6098-2ES allows boost, buck, SEPIC, and flyback topologies. Integrated PMOS gate drivers provide high-side load disconnection to dim the LED and ensure adequate system reliability. Additionally, an integrated spread spectrum modulator improves EMC performance to facilitate system qualification at customer sites. Each channel of the TLD6098-2ES offers analog and PWM dimming for precise control of LED brightness. With the wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 60V, even 24V battery system applications can be supported.
