Infineon adds CoolSiC power modules for automotive applications

Infineon Technologies has launched the OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family, its latest generation of power MOSFETs for automotive applications in a range of rugged, lead-free power packages.

The new family combines 300mm thin wafer technology with innovative packaging to deliver significant performance benefits in tiny packages.

This makes MOSFETs ideal for all standard and future 40V automotive MOSFET applications such as electric power steering, brake systems and disconnect switches, new zone architectures.

OptiMOS 7 also targets battery management, electronic fuse boxes and DC-DC and BLDC units in a wide range of variants.

“The OptiMOS 7 40V MOSFET family will set a new standard in power density, current capacity and chip robustness,” said Axel Hahn, senior vice president automotive MOSFET at Infineon. “With its cutting-edge technology, the family offers excellent efficiency and power in a compact design. The devices offer the highest power density and energy efficiency with the lowest resistance in the industry.”

New members of the OptiMOS family offer reduced switching losses, increased Safe Operating Area (SOA) robustness, and high avalanche current capability. As a result, they facilitate the design of tomorrow's high-efficiency automotive applications.

Devices are available in a variety of rugged automotive power packages, including TDSON-8, HSOF-5, HSOF-8, and top-cooling. The family enables high system efficiency in the smallest form factor while reducing space requirements. Additionally, cooling can be improved while system costs are reduced. The devices enable easy design of products and applications with the highest quality.
