The increase in demand for electrical energy is due to the stable operation of the electrical system

In January 2024, Ukrainian industry increased electricity consumption by 27.2% compared to January 2023, to 2.4 billion kWh. This also represents 82 million kWh more than the previous month. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.

“This winter, Ukrainian industry consumes significantly more electricity than last year,” the Ministry said.

The increase in electricity demand is due to the stable operation of the power grid compared to significant outages at the beginning of last year.

Electricity consumption by households has also increased. In January this year, domestic consumers used 13.5% more electricity than in the same period in 2023 and 101 million kW more than in December 2023.

«For a year now, Ukrainians have lived without hourly blackout schedules. This winter, in particular, we ended this year on a stable note – with electricity and heating, despite all the negative forecasts. We were able to achieve such results thanks to the strengthening of air defense and a large-scale repair campaign in the energy sector, which will continue. After all, the stability and reliability of electricity supply to industry and households is the key to the economic stability of the state,” said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine. Herman Galushchenko .

According to the press release from the Ministry of Energy, in January 2024, the trend of increasing electricity production by nuclear and production facilities will continue.

As the GMK Center previously reported, in December 2023, Ukrainian industry increased electricity consumption by 37.6% compared to December 2022 – up to 2.34 billion kWh against 1.69 billion kWh a year before. In November, national industrial companies consumed 25.7% more electricity compared to the same period in 2022 – 2.26 billion kWh against 1.79 billion kWh.
