Cleantech startup Rimere raises $10 million to convert natural gas and methane into sustainable materials

Rimere, startup de tecnologia limpa, levanta US$ 10 milhões para converter gás natural e metano em materiais sustentáveis

Climate solutions company Rimere announced a $10 million strategic investment from renewable natural gas (RNG) supplier Clean Energy Fuels, with proceeds earmarked to advance Rimere's solutions to convert methane and natural gas into sustainable materials, including hydrogen clean.

Founded in 2020, Rimere's sequential hybrid plasma technology breaks down methane molecules for reconfiguration into cleaner alternatives. The company's solutions include the Reformer, which transforms natural gas into clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene without creating any CO2 emissions, and can achieve negative carbon intensity if RNG is used as a feedstock, and the Mitigator, which Reduces greenhouse gas potency from fugitive gases. methane emissions to provide a low-cost solution to reduce methane emissions escaping from natural gas infrastructure.

Andrew Littlefair, President and CEO of Clean Energy

“Clean Energy has always strived to address environmental issues since it was founded more than 26 years ago. Firstly, it aimed to reduce harmful and health-damaging pollutants caused by large diesel-powered vehicles. More recently, we saw the opportunity to turn fugitive greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural facilities into an ultra-clean transportation fuel. It is a logical next step to make this investment in Rimere, which is addressing the challenges faced by the natural gas and hydrogen industries to produce cost-effective, emissions-free solutions.”

According to Rimere, the company's technology provides solutions to the long-term prospects for natural gas, including utilizing the extensive existing natural gas infrastructure to become an infrastructure to deliver clean hydrogen and graphene.

Mitchell Pratt, CEO of Rimere, said:

“The world continues to consume more natural gas annually for everything from producing electricity to heating our homes. However, this globally abundant, low-carbon and accessible resource can also pose challenges to greenhouse gas emissions from transmission, storage and other pipeline operations. Importantly, Rimere's technology not only cleans up infrastructure, but also repositions and revalues natural gas reserves as a vital solution to climate change and our clean energy future, producing zero-emission hydrogen and valuable graphene.
