Decarbonization-focused consultancy and carbon project developer and solutions provider South Pole today announced the appointment of Daniel Klier as its new CEO. Klier will assume the role from May 2024, replacing interim CEO John Davis.
Klier joins Pólo Sul from sustainability data and technology platform ESG Book, where he currently serves as CEO. Prior to joining ESG Book, Klier served as Global Head of Sustainable Finance at HSBC and held a number of senior roles in the sustainable finance industry, including as chair of the Bank of England's Climate Risk working group, the Institute of International Finance Sustainable Finance and the UK Financial Sustainability Committee and serves on the boards of the global sustainability reporting standard GRI and the international organization Sustainable Energy for All. Klier was also a partner at McKinsey, supporting companies to improve its organizational performance and international growth.
In his new role, Klier will be responsible for further developing and institutionalizing South Pole's renewed focus on exceeding industry risk, integrity and compliance standards and leading its next phase of growth.
