Tungsten: properties and various applications

(1) Tungsten Properties:

Tungsten has a melting point of 3,410°C and a boiling point of about 5,900°C. Its thermal conductivity is 174 w/m·K at 10-100°C and it has a slow evaporation rate at high temperatures with a very low coefficient of thermal expansion.

The expansion coefficient is 4.5×10 -6 ·K -1 between 0-100°C.

The electrical resistivity of tungsten is approximately three times greater than that of copper, with a value of 10 -8 ohm/m at 20°C.

China has the largest total tungsten reserves in the world.

The tungsten mines in Pangushan, Xihuashan and Dajishan in Jiangxi Province are the largest tungsten producing regions in the world.

Tungsten mines in provinces such as Hunan, Guangxi and Guangdong also have abundant reserves.
