Design and Manufacture of Automatic Stamping Machine for Postcards

ABSTRACT
Since ancient times, the stamping action has been done manually. The project is titled as AUTOMATIC POSTCARD STAMPING MACHINE, the objective of this project is not only to minimize the human effort but also to minimize the time required for this action with the help of conveyor belt and rack and pinion mechanism. This machine uses electricity and gives a last impression on the card as an output. The design and manufacturing of AUTOMATIC POSTCARD STAMPING MACHINE consists of rack and pinion mechanism, conveyor belt, DC motor, shaft and bearing. When current supply is provided to the system, the DC motor starts and rotates the conveyor. Here we use the relay as a switch, when the card reaches the stamping arm, the relay stops the DC motor and drives the rack and pinion mechanism, as it moves in the linear direction, the card gets the stamp. This machine can be used in post offices, schools and colleges to stamp ID cards. It is also used in many industries. By changing the rubber stamp, this machine can be used to give any shape and size of mark on the card, such as logos, signatures, etc. The design provides comfort for the operator. This machine works efficiently and satisfactorily.

INTRODUCTION
In the modern era, the world is rapidly developing into the daily life of the human machine; the system is changing and becoming vast rapidly. From small things to big things are becoming advanced in our daily life and taking it into consideration, but we wait until the day when the stamping action is done manually. In this system, it takes a long time to work and is also energetic. To reduce these problems, taking time criteria into consideration, we thought of taking on the challenge of making a machine that can stamp cards automatically. Some of the functions that we have successfully implemented in the machine are that it can automatically stamp on cards using conveyor belt and stamping machine. It consists of conveyor belt, electric motor, stamping arm. Leaves a lasting impression of any shape and size. To make it effective and successful, many mechanical applications are used systematically. The system consumes electrical supply as an energy source. When the current supply is ON, the current goes to the system through the step-down transformer, it converts the high power power into low power up to 12 V. The current voltage goes to the dc motor through the capacitor to the relay and the engine starts, it converts electrical energy into rotational energy. This rotational energy is transferred to the roller.

As the conveyor belt mounted on the roller also rotates and the card placed on the conveyor belt goes forward. When the card comes under the stamp arm, it presses the relay switch, in this situation the relay breaks the circuit of the dc motor as well as drives the rack and pinion. Because of the linear movement of the pinion, the last impression is made on the card. As the dc motor has a capacity of 65 rpm, this process continues and the cards on the conveyor belt are stamped.

CONSTRUCTION
After the design work, the actual manufacturing of various parts begins. Various manufacturing processes are used
for final assembly.

Manufacture of AUTOMATIC POSTCARD STAMPING MACHINE

consist of following

  • It consists of conveyor belt, electric motor, stamping arm and rack and pinion gear mechanism.
  • Leaves a lasting impression of any shape and size.
  • First we connect the wire with the power supply board to the transformer.
  • This transformer is of the reducing type. It converts high current power into low power.
  • The transformer output connection is connected to the capacitor filter. The output of the capacitor filter is connected to the relay.
  • The main function of the relay is to amplify a digital signal, switching a large amount of power with a small operating power.
  • It provides output supply to both machines.
  • The first connection goes to the DC motor and the other goes to the stamping machine.
  • The DC electric motor is connected to the drive roller with 65 rpm.
  • It moves the roller clockwise. The roller is fixed to a metal rod between two end corners of the metal body.
  • The rod is fixed on the small ball bearing to reduce friction and provide smooth operation.
  • Cotter pin is provided to stabilize the rod in its places. Both rollers are connected with conveyor belt to move the component from one place to another. The rack and pinion mechanism is used to stamp the letter. It is placed in an upright position on top of the metal body track.
