Hydraulic oil used in press brakes explained

The hydraulic oil used in this CNC press brake should have a viscosity of 4°E~5°E (EN viscosity) at 50℃ or 45~68 centistoke (kinematic viscosity) at 40℃.

It is recommended to use N68 anti-wear hydraulic oil in summer and N46 anti-wear hydraulic oil in winter.

It is essential to ensure the cleanliness of the hydraulic system. Most hydraulic system failures occur due to dirty oil.

Before filling with oil, clean the oil tank to ensure that there are no impurities in the tank.

After cleaning the oil tank, fill it with fine-filtered hydraulic oil (10um). Refer to “Machine Tool Technical Parameters” for the capacity of the machine’s oil tank.

Please note that newly purchased hydraulic oil is not clean hydraulic oil.

After the oil tank has been filled for the first time and operated for 500 hours, the tank should be cleaned and replaced with new, fine-filtered hydraulic oil.

In the future, the oil tank must be cleaned and replaced every 2,000 hours.

It is not recommended to operate the bending machine at low temperatures (below -5 ℃). If it is necessary to use it, the machine must run without load for a period of time. An oil heater can be installed in the circuit if necessary.

Under normal working conditions, the oil temperature should not exceed 70℃. In special environments, an oil cooler can be installed according to the actual need (the oil tank has an interface).

How long does it take to change the hydraulic oil in the press brake?

CNC press brake maintenance is crucial, especially when it comes to maintaining and replacing the hydraulic oil.

It's important to keep an eye on your oil usage and replace it regularly.

Regarding the first use of the CNC press brake, how often does the hydraulic oil need to be changed and how can the machine be properly maintained?

During operation, the pollution level of the hydraulic oil used in the system must not fall below the specified requirements.

Typically, three months after the hydraulic press brake is first put into operation, the hydraulic oil should be filtered or replaced and the oil tank should be cleaned.

In the future, it is generally recommended to change the oil once a year. The oil should be tested every three months and any deteriorated or seriously polluted oil should be replaced immediately.

It is advisable to use the specified brand of hydraulic oil and not mix different brands.

In addition to changing the hydraulic oil, the following maintenance points must also be considered:

  • Do not change the control point of the pressure control relay, to avoid affecting the normal operation of the system.
  • Regularly check the functions of instruments and other components. If maintenance or replacement is required, be sure to follow the machine model and manual requirements.
  • Check the hydraulic oil level in the oil tank at least once per shift. If any abnormalities are observed, check each element and piping for leaks.
  • Mark any leakage points without affecting usage and address them during shutdown. If the leak is severe, stop the machine immediately for treatment.
  • The surrounding environment must be kept clean with relative humidity not exceeding 85%. Prevent erosion from rain and snow.

What happened to the hydraulic oil leak on one side of the press brake?

Reasons for oil leaking from a press brake include:

  • Valve leak: This is usually caused by blockage or damage to the valve. The solution is to replace the valve.
  • Loose connector: the solution is to tighten or replace the connector.
  • Problems with the machine pump and hydraulic oil pipe.

A Simple Method for Electric Heating of Press Brake Hydraulic Oil

Generally, oil heating is not necessary except in extremely low temperature conditions. If the temperature becomes too high, the oil will become thin and this will result in inconsistent pressure transmission and affect the operation of the machine.

What hydraulic oil does the press brake use?

#46 Anti-wear hydraulic oil must be used. Using regular No. 46 hydraulic oil may result in overheating and cause damage to the valve and cylinder seals.

How many years to change the hydraulic oil of the press brake?

It is generally recommended to replace the hydraulic oil once or twice a year and check the oil every month. If the oil appears white or black, it should be replaced immediately.
