SYNOPSIS

This project work entitled “AUTOMATIC ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC JACK FOR LIGHT VEHICLES” was designed having studied the difficulty of lifting any type of light vehicles. Our research regarding various automobile workshops revealed the fact that most of the time some difficult methods were adopted in lifting the vehicles for reconditioning. Now the project mainly focused on this difficulty and therefore a suitable electronic control unit was designed. Such that vehicles can be lifted off the ground without applying any impact force. By pressing the button on the panel, the electronic control unit automatically activates the hydraulic jack.

The manufacturing part has been almost rightly considered for its simplicity and economy, so that it can be accommodated as one of the essential tools in automobile garages.

INTRODUCTION

This device, the automatic electro-hydraulic jack for light vehicle garages, was developed to further meet the needs of small and medium-sized car garages. In most garages, vehicles are lifted using jacks. This requires large manpower and skilled labor.

To avoid all these disadvantages, this automatic electro-hydraulic jack has been designed in such a way that it can be used to lift the vehicle very smoothly, without any impact force. The operation is done in a simple way that even anyone can carry out, just by pressing the button.

WORK OPERATION

The panel switch has been activated at the time of any fault condition. The control signal is given to the solenoid valve when the button is activated. At the same time, the engine coupled to the rotating hydraulic pump is activated. The oil is sucked from the oil tank and the compressed oil goes to the solenoid valve.

The solenoid valve is activated the moment the panel button is “ON”. The compressed fluid (oil) goes to the hydraulic cylinder. The compressed oil pushes the hydraulic cylinder piston and moves forward. The RAM is attached to the end of the single-acting hydraulic cylinder. The piston moves toward the ground and the ram lifts the vehicle.

The solenoid valve is deactivated the moment the panel button is “OFF”. Fluid from the hydraulic cylinder (oil) goes to the solenoid valve. The oil then returns to the oil tank when the solenoid valve is deactivated. Therefore, extra oil is not needed to maintain the oil level in the oil tank.

  • Maximum height of up to 1.5 feet can be achieved.
  • No oil waste.

DISADVANTAGES

1. The initial cost is high.

2. High maintenance cost.
