How to calculate the weight of the rectangular tube?
The formula for calculating the weight of the rectangular tube is:
2((ad-2r+π(r+d/2)/2+(bd-2r+π(r+d/2)/2)x7.85d(kg)
a, b is the length and width of the rectangular tube (m), r is the radius of the arc of the four corners of the inner cavity of the tube (m) and d is the wall thickness (mm).

What is rectangular tube?
Rectangular tube is a lightweight, thin-walled steel tube with a hollow square section, also known as cold-formed steel section.
The tube is made of hot-rolled or cold-rolled Q235 steel strip or coil plate as base material.
The material is subjected to cold bending and forming, followed by high-frequency welding to produce square cross-sectional shape and size.
The wall thickness of hot-rolled extra thick-wall square tube is thicker, and its corner size and edge flatness even exceed the strength level of welded cold-formed square tubes.
Types of Rectangular Tube
Steel pipes can be classified into two types: seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes (also known as seamless pipes).
Within the seamless tube category, there are hot rolled seamless square tubes, cold drawn seamless square tubes and extruded seamless square tubes. Welded square tubes are also available.
Welded square tubes can be divided based on their manufacturing process:
- Arc Welding Square Tube
- Resistance Welding Square Tube (High Frequency and Low Frequency)
- Square tube for gas welding
- Square tube welding furnace
