What is an unequal angle bar?

Angle steel is classified into two types: (angle) equal angle steel and unequal angle steel.

Unequal angle steel refers to steel with an angular section and unequal lengths on both sides. It is a type of angle steel.

Its specifications are determined by the dimensions of side length and side thickness, with side lengths ranging from 25mm × 16mm to 200mm × 125mm.

It is normally produced through hot rolling.

Unequal angle steel finds wide application in various metal structures, including bridges, machine manufacturing and shipbuilding.

Based on the dimensions, shape, weight and allowable deviation of the hot-rolled steel section (GB/T 706-2008), the length of hot-rolled unequal angle steel is normally between 4m and 19m.

In the market, unequal angle steels can be delivered based on actual weight or theoretical weight. The deviation between the theoretical weight and the actual weight of unequal steel angles should not exceed -5% to +3%.
