4Cr13 40Cr13 Stainless Steel

Introduction to 4Cr13 stainless steel

4Cr13 steel (new name: 40Cr13) is a martensitic type stainless steel, which has a higher hardness than 3Cr13 steel after quenching. The steel has good mechanical processing performance. After heat treatment (quenching and tempering), it has good corrosion resistance, polishing performance, high strength and wear resistance.

4Cr13 Steel Datasheet and Specifications

The following tables list the technical details of 4Cr13 steel, such as chemical composition and mechanical properties, etc.

  • Electrical Resistivity (μΩ·m): 0.59 at 20℃
  • Longitudinal modulus of elasticity (kN/mm2): 215 to 20°C

Typical heat treatment

  • Annealing: 800 – 900 ℃ (slow cooling)
  • Quenching: 1050 – 1100 ℃ (oil cooling)
  • Quenching: 200 – 300 ℃ (air cooling)

Forging

Cold working die steel for oil quenching has some sensitivity to cracking. It should not be heated quickly when forging heating. It is best to preheat to 650-750°C. The forging heating temperature is 1130-1150°C, and the final forging temperature should be higher than 800-850°C. The upper limit temperature is measured when the ingot is forged, and the lower limit temperature is measured when the billet is forged.

Forms

4Cr13 stainless steel is suitable for manufacturing plastic molds, transparent plastic product molds, etc., which are subjected to high loads, high wear resistance and corrosive medium. Also used in the manufacture of hot oil pumps, tools, valve seats, valves, nozzles, measuring tools, medical equipment, springs, etc.
