Tipos de madeira e sua aplicação

Types of wood and their application

The term “timber” describes coniferous and deciduous trees that are felled and turned into lumber. The classification of wood into different types of wood can be done differently depending on the type of wood used and the hardness of the wood. According to one of the classifications, there are four different types of wood.

  • Sap-wood
  • core
  • Softwood
  • Noble wood

Sap-wood

Sapwood is the outermost part of a tree trunk or branch, usually lighter in color than the rest. It contains living cells that transport water and nutrients between the inner tissue and the outer shell (which is more like skin). Sapwood also plays an important role in regulating water loss through evaporation, as well as protecting against insects and other pests.

Sapwood gets its name from its sticky appearance when dry; this makes it difficult to remove without damaging the wood.

core

Heartwood is the darkest colored wood in the middle of a tree trunk. It is made from dead cells, which means it is not affected by water and does not float during transport. Heartwood is used for construction and furniture because it is strong and light.

Soft wood

Softwood is a type of wood used in construction. It has a higher density than hardwood, but is not as strong. Softwood is made from coniferous trees such as pine, spruce, and spruce.

Noble wood

Hardwoods are the densest and strongest of all woods. Although they are more expensive than softwoods, their strength makes them ideal for furniture construction, flooring, and furniture construction. Hardwood species include ash, birch, maple and oak.

The best wooden floors are made from kiln-dried planks at temperatures between 500°C and 600°C. This process allows the wood to maintain its shape and not deform when exposed to moisture in humid environments such as kitchens or bathrooms.

Disadvantages of Bamboo
  • Price
  • It will not last long if used continuously indoors or outdoors.
  • Not fireproof or waterproof
  • It takes many years for a plant to grow and become an adult

Birch wood

Birch wood is obtained from the bark of birch trees. The trees grow in northern and northeastern Europe and Asia, but can be found throughout the world. Birch wood is used in construction for many applications, including building materials, furniture, flooring, and wall coverings.

Use of birch wood in construction

Birch wood is used in construction for various purposes. It can be used to construct houses or other buildings, or as a substitute for scarce or expensive building materials. For example, it can be used as an oak substitute when traditional oak is not available or when people want an environmentally friendly alternative. In addition to replacing oak, birch wood can also be used in the construction of beautiful furniture, such as beds and tables.

Benefits of Birch Wood

The main advantage of birch wood as a building material is that it is very light compared to other types of wood such as oak or maple. This allows heavy items, such as furniture or appliances, to be easily transported without breaking during transport.

Mahogany

Mahogany is a noble wood valued for its durability, resistance and beauty. It is used in furniture, floors, cabinets and doors, among others. The wood has attractive grains that make the work easier and give the finished product a cozy appearance. Mahogany is used in a variety of ways in the construction industry, including:

Finish furniture

One of the most common uses for mahogany is in finishing furniture. The wood has a beautiful grain that gives it a rich look that is difficult to achieve with other woods. It is also very durable, which makes it perfect for applications where you don't want your furniture to get damaged easily.

Decorative carpentry

Mahogany can also be used as decorative joinery, such as mantels, bookcases and bookcases. The color of the wood varies from light brown to dark brown depending on the amount of paint or oil applied during processing, making it suitable for any decoration.

Oak wood

Oak is one of the most popular types of wood in the construction industry. Because it has several advantages over other types of wood. That includes:

Oak wood is very robust and therefore suitable for construction projects that require a high level of strength and durability. It is also highly resistant to rot and decay, making it ideal for areas with high humidity or where moisture can cause problems with wood.

Oak is an excellent option for interior walls, as it has a warm color that combines well with other colors in other types of environments. It also offers excellent insulating properties, helping to keep rooms warm during the winter months when temperatures drop below freezing.

Oak wood comes from trees that are between 150 and 1,000 years old. This means you'll be able to use it on construction projects for years to come!

cedar

Uses of Cedar Wood Cedar is one of the most valuable woods in the world due to its excellent physical properties and resistance to decay. It is also very versatile and is used in furniture, construction, flooring and even roofing. Due to its durability, cedar is also an excellent option for outdoor use.

This wood is a great addition to any home due to its durability and beauty. It has a unique appearance that sets it apart from other tree species. The fact that it is native to North America makes it even more attractive to buyers who want their homes to reflect their culture. Cedar wood is also relatively easy to process compared to other species such as oak or maple. However, it contains more natural oils than other types of wood, making it more susceptible to warping if stored improperly.

Cherry wood

Cherry wood is a very popular wood product. It has been used for a long time in Europe and Asia. Wood is used in the manufacture of furniture, veneer and other decorative items.

Cherry wood is a hard wood that has been growing on trees for centuries. The fruits that fall from these trees are not edible but are very aromatic and tasty. The fruits are harvested and dried before being exported to other countries, where they are used for a variety of purposes, including food, medicine and perfume.

The tree's name comes from the French word “cherry,” which means “small,” because compared to other hardwoods, cherry is small—usually less than 40 mm (2 inches) at its thickest point. Wood can be used in doors, cabinets, furniture, musical instruments or even musical instruments such as pianos or guitars.

Cherry wood has been exported since 1792, when it was introduced to England by Thomas Jefferson, who acquired some pieces during his trip to France. Over time, this type of wood became popular due to its great strength and durability, while maintaining its beautiful appearance.

Walnut wood

Walnut wood is the subject of much debate. Its use in traditional construction is well documented, but its use in contemporary design is less so. It can be used in a variety of ways, including structural beams, cladding, flooring and furniture.

Walnut wood is one of the most sought after hardwoods in the world. It is sometimes used as a mahogany substitute because it has a similar grain and color. Walnut wood also has a very high value when sold as lumber, making it an excellent option for those who want to incorporate walnut wood into their home but do not have the space to do so.

Walnut wood has many uses in modern design because it is so versatile and easy to work with. Due to its smooth texture and deep tones, it can be used in interior decorations such as cabinets and chairs. Walnut wood is also an excellent material for garden furniture as it has a natural resistance to rot and insects, making it more resistant to damage than other woods such as pine or cedar (which are more vulnerable).

Fir wood

Fir wood is a softwood used to make furniture, flooring, and other wood products. It has a very fine grain, which makes it ideal for use in high-value applications. Fir wood is also very light in color, so it can be easily stained to create rich colors.

Fir wood originally comes from the mountains of Europe and Asia. The species most used for furniture is the European larch (Larix decidua). Other species used for this purpose include white pine (Pinus strobus), Norwegian spruce (Picea abies) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). The genus name of these trees is Larix, which means “fir” in Latin.

The first uses of spruce wood were in the construction of houses and churches by people who lived near forest areas where they had large quantities of this type of wood available. The first use of spruce wood in the construction of furniture occurred in the Middle Ages, in Scandinavia, when churches were built from it. The Vikings were among the first Europeans to use it extensively as a building material because they had access to forests full of spruce wood.

Pine forest

Pine is the most used type of wood in the world. It is the most commonly used wood in many applications, from posts to flooring, furniture to siding, and paneling to decking.

Pine wood has been an important building material for thousands of years. It was used by the ancient Egyptians and Romans, who also had a great influence on its development. The Romans used Pito One for their roads and other public works projects, as well as for bridge construction and shipbuilding.

They also harvested Scots pines to use in building materials such as roof beams and flooring. The Greeks were another important source of hardwood. They harvested pine trees from Mount Parnassus in Greece, where they were called “PaParnassianine” due to their high quality.

plywood

Plywood is a lightweight wood that can be molded into virtually any shape and size. It is a type of wood used in construction for many decades. Plywood is a type of wood used to construct homes, schools, and office buildings. Plywood is available in three types: solid wood, laminated wood and chipboard.

Plywood is considered one of the most versatile building materials available today. It is easy to transport, relocate and repair. Plywood is also very affordable, making it an ideal choice for many homeowners.

plywoodplywood

The main advantage of using plywood in your home or business is its lightness. Plywood is strong enough to support heavy loads without needing additional support from other materials such as steel beams or concrete pillars. This can save you money by eliminating the need to purchase expensive structural elements, such as steel beams or concrete columns, that would be required if you used traditional building materials, such as bricks and mortar, to frame your home or business.

Cross laminated wood

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a composite material made from layers of wood veneer. It uses a different manufacturing and construction method than traditional plywood, which consists of thin sheets of wood glued together.

With CLT, layers are connected by vertical joints rather than glue, allowing for more complex shapes than plywood panels.

When making cross-laminated lumber, the various layers are laid out, cut to size, glued together, and then stacked in a press to compress and join them together. The result is a strong, lightweight panel that can be used in large quantities, even if the individual internal parts are not perfectly flat.

Cross-laminated timber is used in many different applications, including:

Architecture – CLT makes the most of space and achieves impressive results without compromising aesthetics or durability. It is also very easy to install and requires no special tools or skills beyond basic carpentry skills.

Construction – CLT panels are very strong and light compared to rebar or concrete . Therefore, they are ideal for construction projects where weight must be minimized but strength must be maintained.
